Senior Instructional Designer -Consultant

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery interviews with clients and SMEs to uncover learning needs, organizational goals and evaluation criteria.
  • Design and present comprehensive learning plans for self-paced, instructor-led, and blended learning solutions.
  • Storyboard and write learning content such as scenarios, activities, case studies, and video scripts.
  • Create learner assessments and evaluations to measure knowledge transfer and learning effectiveness.
  • Work closely with eLearning developers to transform content into engaging learning experiences in Storyline or other authoring tools.
  • Manage time efficiently to adhere to project timelines and deadlines.
  • Communicate asynchronously with LCL leadership and team members using project management software.
  • Utilize LCL templates and processes, provide feedback for future optimizations and improvements.

What you’ll bring

Desired Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a full-cycle instructional designer, preferably in an agency setting or within one of the following industries:
    • Healthcare
    • Nonprofit
    • Government
    • Technology
  • Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Learning Design or Instructional Design, or equivalent experience
  • Recent and continued professional development in:
    • Adult Education (andragogy)
    • Neuroscience, neuroplasticity, science of learning
    • Organizational, performance or talent management
    • Learning technology and innovation
  • Commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Highly adept at conducting learning needs analysis and defining the measurable impact of learning interventions
  • Solid consulting and presentation skills, confidence to advocate for learner-centric design decisions and industry best practices with clients
  • Strong writer with the ability to write for various types of instructional design content for diverse audiences in multiple industries
  • Self-motivated worker, with proactive communication skills to collaborate effectively as part of an asynchronous, remote-first team
  • Demonstrated ability to meet timeline expectations for project deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working in Google Docs and utilizing project management software (e.g. ClickUp, Asana, Trello)
  • Experience with time tracking and invoicing for your work as a contractor

Position Requirements

This opportunity is open to sole proprietors or incorporated freelancers located within Canada or the US.

Candidates must be available to work remotely for approximately 10-20 hours/week.

The successful candidate will need to provide their own equipment (laptop, phone, secure wifi, etc.) and Articulate 360 team account.
