Learning Technology Consultant

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Communicate asynchronously with LCL leadership and team members using project management software.
  • Specific to LMS Administration (rate A)
  • Generate and schedule standard and custom LMS reports for clients.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve occasional technical issues related to LMS and other system functionality.
  • Work closely with eLearning developers to publish and test learning content in LMS and other systems.
  • Specific to LMS Consultation (rate B)
  • Lead discovery interviews with clients and SMEs to uncover learning technology needs and use cases.
  • Synthesize information gathered during discovery to document business problems, technical requirements and other organizational needs of an LMS.
  • Pitch and justify ideas, recommendations or proposals to LCL leadership and/or clients in the form of reports, presentations, or by drafting a business case.
  • Design and present comprehensive plans for program-wide or course-specific delivery via an LMS or other system.
  • Evaluate LMS features and functionality and make recommendations that best meet client needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and clients to set up LMS and other tools and integrations for effective learning delivery and measurement of learning outcomes.

What you’ll bring

Desired Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Two years’ relevant experience working with learning technology, preferably in an instructional design agency setting and/or within one of the following industries:
    • Healthcare
    • Nonprofit
    • Government
    • Technology
  • Post-secondary education in Adult Education, User Experience (UX) Design, Learning Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Recent and continued professional development in learning technology and innovation.
  • Previous client-facing experience in a professional services setting.
  • Commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Solid consulting and presentation skills, confidence to advocate for learner-centric tech decisions and industry best practices with clients.
  • Ability to synthesize information or processes into graphic organizers to communicate complex concepts to clients.
  • Self-motivated worker, with proactive communication skills to collaborate effectively as part of an asynchronous, remote-first team.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet timeline expectations for project deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving, with high attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in Google Docs and utilizing project management software (e.g. ClickUp, Asana, Trello).
  • Experience with time tracking and invoicing for your work as a contractor.
  • Ability to adopt and follow LCL templates and processes, provide feedback for future optimizations and improvements.
  • Ability to comprehend written French is an asset.

Position Requirements

This opportunity is open to sole proprietors or incorporated freelancers located within Canada or the US.

Candidates must be available to work remotely for approximately 10-20 hours/week.

The successful candidate will need to provide their own equipment (laptop, phone, secure wifi, etc.)

Rate ranges are provided below for reference. The rates offered to the successful candidate will be dependent on their skills and experience.
